Frequently asked

Which documents do I actually need?

It depends on your position. A subcontractor working under a main contractor's system usually needs a health and safety policy and a hazard register to start. A business running its own system — or applying for SiteWise or Tōtika — generally needs the policy, the manual, the hazard and risk registers, incident reporting, and an emergency plan. Permits are task-specific and only needed if you do that work.

Do these documents need to be different for each region?

No. New Zealand is a single jurisdiction — HSWA 2015 and its regulations apply nationwide under one regulator. Unlike Australia, where each state and territory has its own work health and safety law, there are no regional variants to choose between. One document covers the whole country.

Are these Australian templates with the names changed?

No, and that distinction is the point. Australian documents cite the WHS Act, use SWMS as the task-level instrument, and omit the officer due-diligence duty in the form HSWA created it. These are drafted from New Zealand legislation with the duty and regulation numbers stated inline.

Will these get me through SiteWise or Tōtika prequalification?

They supply the documented-system layer that prequalification assesses, which is where most applications fall short. What no template can supply is evidence the system is in use — completed records, signed toolbox talks, closed-out corrective actions built up over months. Assessors look for both.

Is there a discount for buying several?

No. Each document is sold at a single price on its own. We do not run bundles or multi-document discounts.

Do you sell a SWMS for New Zealand?

No, because New Zealand has no statutory SWMS. A SWMS is an Australian instrument required under Australian WHS regulations for high-risk construction work. In New Zealand the equivalents are the Site-Specific Safety Plan at project level and a Job Safety Analysis or Task Analysis at task level.
